2015 Annual Report

Our Statement of Purpose

The MARIELDERS, Inc. is a nonprofit, tax assisted, senior center dedicated to the enrichment of life for adults 55 years and older by providing activities and services to assist them in remaining in their own homes and active members of their community. The Center was established in 1977 and serves the following communities: Mariemont, Fairfax, Madison Place, Plainville and Terrace Park.

 Grants

The MARIELDERS actively applies for grants to help support services, programs and capital projects. We received a grant from The Thomas J. Emery Memorial to replace our furnace/ac units.

 Support Services

The goal of the social service department is to assist clients so that they may remain independent in their own homes. Services involve help with: balancing finances, health insurance, information and referral.

 Programs

The MARIELDERS offered 434 educational and entertainment programs in 2015 with 3,536 attendants.

The Center offered the following:

Weekly activities: exercise class, canasta, bridge, cards, needle nook, dominoes, and mah jong.

Monthly activities: in-center lunches, coffee talk, blood pressure screening, book group, newsletter, crafts, members meetings, and dinner & a movie.

Day trips to area museums, tours, restaurants, theaters, concerts and sporting events.

 Transportation

MARIELDERS Van Shuttle provided 3,186 one way trips for 100 clients to: local groceries, pharmacies, library, banks, hairdressers, area restaurants, doctors and dentist.

Our Volunteer Transportation program provided 214 medical trips to our members who have no other way to get to their doctors.

Volunteers

MARIELDERS volunteers contributed over 3, 443 hours to eight different service areas. These areas included drivers, clerical assistance, fund raising, teachers, community service, Board participation, center improvements and health services.
